Our History
REVIEWING GOD'S BLESSINGS
While ministering as an outreach pastor, God burdened Pastor Guy Altizer to start a church in Simpsonville, South Carolina. After much prayer and hard work, 156 people met together for the first time on February 10, 1985. The charter service of Calvary Baptist Church was held two years later on July 26, 1987. Some 50 members who were at that service continue to worship at Calvary today.
The church purchased the original 13 acres of our present campus in 1988. The auditorium and classroom wing were constructed; and by God’s grace, all outstanding debt was paid by the end of 1998. God provided additional facilities in the following years: one which houses our church offices and the other which we know as the Chapel – where the youth group, Spanish church, and other groups meet for worship, instruction, and fellowship.

CELEBRATING GOD'S GOODNESS
On the second Sunday of February, we celebrate Heritage Sunday – Calvary’s anniversary. Heritage Sunday gives our church family the opportunity to look back at God’s blessings – and forward to the exciting days of growth and ministry still ahead.
We “labor together with God” (1 Corinthians 3:9) to be a Christ-exalting, people-reaching, disciple-making, servant-equipping local church ministry.
LOOKING AHEAD
God has proved His faithfulness over and over again through the history of Calvary Baptist Church, and we continue to trust in His goodness for the future. Building Update »
