Our History

While ministering as an outreach pastor, God burdened Pastor Guy Altizer to start a church in Simpsonville, South Carolina.  After much prayer and hard work, 156 people met together for the very first time on February 10, 1985.

The charter service of Calvary Baptist Church was held two years later on July 26, 1987.  Some 40 members who were at that service continue to attend and serve the Lord at Calvary today.

God's Goodness

The church located and purchased the 13 acres of our present campus in 1988.  The auditorium and classroom wing were constructed; and, by God's grace, all outstanding debt was paid in full by the end of 1998.

God provided two additional facilities in the following years: one which houses the administrative offices and the other whuch we know as the Chapel.

The year 2008 marks another phase in the growth of Calvary Baptist Church as we look forward to the contstruction of a new worship facility to accommodate our growing congregation.

Heritage Sunday

On the second Sunday of February we celebrate Heritage Sunday – Calvary's anniversary.

Heritage Sunday gives us an opportunity to look back at God's blessings – and forward to the exciting days of growth and ministry that are still ahead.

We are "laboring together with God" (1 Corinthians 3:9), striving to be a Christ-exalting, people-reaching, disciple-making, servant-equipping local church ministry.
